Scott - I like Arma, but It can be a bitch to set-up and unless you play on 1 server primarily it's difficult to keep up to date.
I suggest addon sync and pick one server and stay with it.

for criminal acts and violence on the stage...

« on: December 19, 2009, 07:32:09 AM »

Well I saw Avatar on opening day.  Upon entering I assumed the following.  1) the story would be simpllistic and stereo-typed...(the movie was exactly that)..The evil Capitalist Cronies only thinking of profit vs the deep, thoughtful liberal environmentalist who against all odds prevail..Yeah yeah...FUCK YOU.  However, if you can get beyond the Trite drivel of this story (must keep it simple for all those EMO ZIT FACED teenagers with no sense of analytical thought interested)..We all know what happened when they released a cerebral SCI-FI movie (DUNE)..FAIL!!  Anyway, beyond this bullshit the movie is absolutely BEAUTIFUL and SPECTACULAR.  The characters are AWFUL...I do not even remember one name.  However, the young NA VI' Woman was very intrigueing and the whole idea of bonding as one with the earth is right out of many great SCI-FI books.  This movies plot is essentially the same as DANCES WITH WOLVES..except on another world.  There is a little bit of ANNE MCCAFFREYS "Dragonriders of Pern" in this movie..As a matter of fact, they should of stuck to that kind of theme..would of been alot better.

Is it worth the money..Hell yeah..The 3D is not obnoxious and I think added to the total immersion of this film.  The bar has definately been raised with special effects.  Simply unbelievable color and action.  It was seemless.

My vote is 10 out of 10 for action and special effects
2 out  of 10 story
overall..worth the 13 bucks I spent on the film

FYI:  2 hours 30 minutes flew by.

Um...personally, no, but I know that every kid wants to see this.  The aliens are barely dressed, and the girl Na Va has like a thread covering up her Nips...There is also some subtle low key sex scenes, lots of violence..(like Jurassic Park).

It is also a Psydo-Indoctrine style plot.  You know, its good to be a tree-hugging Liberal willing to die for the cause rather than a "Evil Capitalist" that just cares about profit.  I am sure Obama and Gore got chubbies after seeing this.  There are even subtle shots at the Bush administration by using such catch phrases as "SHOCK AND AWE"...remember this takes place in 2184..do you really think these people even remember BUSH..lol.  Also, the Marines are portrayed as "unfortunate soldiers" who have to follow orders begrudgingly from their "LETS DESTROY EVERYTHING" leaders.

I think if kids understand that this movie is EYE CANDY and nothing more, then it can be enjoyable.

Ask yourself this ..Would you let your kid watch Dances With Wolves?  This movie is that with more explosions and special effects.  The plot and concept is the same.
